The Hall of SELF Studio Privacy Policy
Effective Date: March 19, 2025
Introduction
The Hall of SELF Studio (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy and keeping your personal information secure. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect from you, how we use and share it, and the steps we take to safeguard it. We want you to understand our practices and feel confident that your information is safe with us. We value your trust and believe in transparency – for example, we do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
By using our website, booking classes, or otherwise engaging with our studio, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you have any questions or concerns about how we handle your privacy, please contact us using the information provided at the end of this policy.
Information We Collect
We collect certain information from you to provide our services and improve your experience. This includes:
• Personal Information: When you create an account, book a class (through our scheduling platform Walla), or contact us, we collect personal details such as your name, email address, phone number, and billing details (e.g., your billing address). This information is necessary for managing reservations, contacting you about your classes, and processing payments or memberships.
• Payment Information: If you make a purchase (like buying a membership or class package), your payment details (such as credit card number or other payment data) are collected securely through Stripe, our payment processor. We do not store your full credit card information on our servers. Stripe handles your payment information in compliance with industry security standards (PCI-DSS).
• Usage and Device Information: When you visit our website, we automatically collect certain information about your device and how you use our site. This includes data like your IP address, browser type, device type, pages or content you view, and the dates/times of your visits. We gather this through tools like Google Analytics and Facebook Pixel, which use cookies and similar technologies (described below) to collect information about your interactions with our site.
• Cookies and Tracking Technologies: We use cookies and similar tracking technologies (such as web beacons or pixel tags) to enhance your experience on our site. Cookies are small text files stored on your device that help us remember your preferences, keep you logged in during a session, and understand how you navigate our site. Some cookies are essential for our site to function (for example, to enable class bookings), while others are used for analytics and advertising. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, but note that disabling certain cookies may affect site functionality.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for various purposes to operate and improve our services. Specifically, we use your data to:
• Facilitate Class Bookings and Scheduling: We use your personal information to register you for classes, manage your bookings or memberships, and keep track of class attendance. For example, our scheduling platform Walla uses your details to let you sign up for classes and to notify you of schedule changes or class reminders.
• Process Payments Securely: We use your payment information (via Stripe) to handle transactions such as class purchases, membership fees, or retail purchases. This allows us to charge you for services and provide receipts or confirmations. All payments are processed securely, and we rely on Stripe to ensure your financial information is handled safely.
• Communicate with You (Emails and SMS): We may use your contact information (email or phone number) to send you important notices and updates about your classes or account, such as booking confirmations, class reminders, cancellations, or changes to our services. With your permission, we also send marketing communications to inform you about new classes, special offers, events, or studio news. These communications may be sent via email newsletters or text messages (SMS). If you prefer not to receive promotional messages, you can opt out at any time (see User Rights below).
• Improve Our Website and Services: The usage and device information we collect (through Google Analytics and Facebook Pixel) is used to understand how our website is performing and how users interact with it. We analyze this data to help improve our website design, content, and user experience, so that we can make navigation easier and enhance our class offerings. It also helps us measure the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns and tailor our advertisements (for example, showing you relevant ads on platforms like Facebook).
We will not use your personal information for any purpose that is incompatible with the above without asking for your consent first. For instance, we won’t publish or share your testimonials or other personal content without your permission.
Third-Party Services
To provide our services effectively, we rely on a few trusted third-party service providers. These partners help us with specific functions (like scheduling, payments, and analytics), and they may have access to certain personal information, but only as needed to perform their tasks. We share your data with these third parties only for the purposes mentioned in this policy, and we ensure they are obligated to protect your information. We do not sell your data to any third parties. Our key service providers include:
• Walla (Scheduling and Class Management): We use Walla as our online scheduling and class management platform. When you book classes or manage your account through our website, the information you provide (like name, contact details, and class bookings) is processed and stored in Walla. This allows you to schedule classes, sign waivers, and receive class updates. Walla is a third-party service that has its own privacy and security measures to protect the data we entrust to them.
• Stripe (Payment Processing): All payments are handled through Stripe, a secure third-party payment processor. When you enter your credit card or payment details, that information goes directly to Stripe. Stripe processes your payment and notifies us when a transaction is approved. We do not see or store your full credit card number or sensitive payment details. Stripe is PCI-DSS compliant, meaning it adheres to high security standards for handling payment information.
• Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics to track and report on how visitors use our website. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect data about your site usage (such as what pages you visit, how long you stay, and how you arrived at our site). This information is sent to Google and aggregated to provide insights into website traffic and user behavior. We use these insights to make informed decisions about improving content and navigation. Google Analytics does not reveal any personally identifiable information (like your name or email) to us; it only provides aggregate statistics about our website usage. Google has its own privacy policy explaining how data is handled, and we do not share any information with Google that directly identifies you.
• Facebook Pixel: Our website uses the Facebook Pixel, a small piece of code that helps us with advertising and outreach on Facebook and Instagram. It works by collecting information about your actions on our site (for example, pages you view or links you click), and this data allows us to create targeted ads on Facebook and Instagram and measure their effectiveness. The information collected through the Facebook Pixel may include device information, pages viewed, and events like “purchase” or “sign-up” if those occur. We do not receive personally identifiable information from the Pixel – rather, we get aggregated reports on ad performance. Any data collected by Facebook via the Pixel is handled according to Facebook’s privacy policies.
Please note that these third-party services have their own privacy policies governing how they handle your data. We recommend you review their policies (available on their respective websites) if you want more information on their practices. We only share the minimum information necessary with our service providers, and we have agreements in place to ensure they protect your data. Aside from these service providers, we will not share your personal information with other third parties unless we have your consent or are required to by law. For example, we may disclose information if we are compelled by a legal subpoena or to protect the rights, safety, and property of The Hall of SELF, our customers, or the public.
User Rights
We believe it’s important that you have control over your personal information. You have several rights regarding the data we hold about you, including the right to:
• Access and Update Your Information: You can request a copy of the personal information we have about you. If any of your information is incorrect or has changed (for example, you got a new email address or phone number), you have the right to ask us to correct or update it. We appreciate it if you keep your details up to date so we can serve you best. To access or update your information, please contact us using the details in the Contact Information section below.
• Opt Out of Marketing Communications: If you no longer want to receive our newsletter, promotional emails, or text alerts, you can opt out at any time. Every marketing email we send includes an “unsubscribe” link at the bottom – clicking that will remove you from our email list. For SMS messages, you may follow the opt-out instructions provided (such as texting “STOP” to unsubscribe) or contact us to be removed. Please note that even if you opt out of marketing messages, we may still send you essential notices about your class bookings, purchases, or account (for example, reservation confirmations or schedule changes), as these are not promotional but rather part of our service to you.
• Manage Cookie Preferences: You have the right to control how cookies are used when you visit our site. Most web browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies through the settings. You can set your browser to block cookies or alert you when cookies are being sent. Additionally, if we offer a cookie consent tool on our website, you can use it to manage non-essential cookies (such as analytics or advertising cookies). Keep in mind that if you disable certain cookies, parts of our site (like the class booking features) may not function properly.
• Request Deletion of Your Data: You may request that we delete your personal information from our records. If you decide to withdraw from our studio or simply want us to remove your details, you can ask us to erase your data. We will honor such requests as long as we are not required to keep the information for legal or operational reasons (for example, some transaction records may need to be kept for financial reporting or legal compliance). We will inform you if we are unable to delete certain data due to legal obligations.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us (see Contact Information below). We will respond to your request as soon as reasonably possible, in accordance with applicable law. For your security, we may take steps to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests (especially for data access or deletion).
Data Security
We take the security of your personal information very seriously. The Hall of SELF Studio implements a variety of security measures to protect your data from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. These measures include technical safeguards such as encryption and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology (for example, our website uses HTTPS encryption to protect data transmitted between your browser and our site). We also maintain administrative and physical safeguards: for instance, only authorized staff or contractors who need your information to perform a specific job (like customer service or billing) are granted access to personal data, and they are bound by confidentiality.
Our third-party service providers (such as Walla and Stripe) are also chosen for their strong security practices. Stripe is certified to PCI-DSS standards for handling payment data, and Walla likewise employs security protocols to protect user information. We regularly review our security procedures and update them as needed to address new threats or comply with best practices.
Please remember that no method of transmitting information over the internet or storing data is completely secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the unlikely event of a data breach that affects your personal data, we will notify you and any relevant authorities as required by law.
Compliance with Privacy Laws
We are based in the United States (Baltimore, Maryland), but we strive to comply with applicable privacy laws and regulations, including those that may apply to international users. This includes:
• General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR): If you are located in the European Union, United Kingdom, or another country in the European Economic Area, you have certain rights under the GDPR regarding your personal data. These rights include the ones mentioned above (access, correction, deletion, etc.), as well as the right to object to or restrict certain processing and the right to data portability. We will only collect and process your personal information for lawful reasons, such as with your consent (for example, when you sign up for our newsletter), to fulfill a contract with you (providing the services you requested, like a yoga class booking), or to comply with legal obligations. If you believe we have not adhered to the principles of the GDPR in handling your data, please contact us so we can address your concerns. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
• California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA): If you are a resident of California, you are protected by the CCPA and other state privacy laws. In line with the CCPA, California residents can request to know what categories of personal information we collect, understand how we use and share that information, and request access to or deletion of their personal information. We do not sell personal information (as mentioned above). If you send us a verifiable request relating to your CCPA rights, we will provide the required information or take the requested action in accordance with the law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your privacy rights. California residents can make such requests by contacting us via the methods in the Contact Information section. (If you designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf, we will take steps to verify that the agent has permission to act for you.)
This Privacy Policy is intended to comply with these laws and to provide all our users (no matter where you live) with clear information about your privacy. If you have any questions about our legal compliance or need further clarification on your rights, please reach out to us.
Policy Updates
We may update or change this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons. When we make updates, we will revise the “Effective Date” at the top of this policy to indicate the date of the latest revision. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information.
If we make any material changes to the way we collect or use your personal data, we will do our best to notify you in advance. This notification may be provided by posting a prominent notice on our website and/or by contacting you directly via the email address you have provided to us. By continuing to use our services after such changes take effect, you agree to the revised policy.
